NHS Dental Treatments
Clinically Necessary Dental Treatments
NHS dental treatments include:

Full examination (including X-rays) with preventative advice and treatment (such as a scale and polish, when needed.)
Urgent treatment
Fillings
Crowns/ Inlays
Bridges/Veneers (where clinically justified; other NHS treatments may be more suitable.)
Root canal treatment (providing complexity of the root canals is within practitioners capability- referral to a specialist centre may be advised in some cases, with full explanation.)
Tooth extractions (if complex, referral via NHS pathway will be discussed.)
Orthodontic treatment for children and young people aged under 18 (providing certain criteria are met with degree of straightening required.
NHS referral pathways (NHS criteria being met).
The NHS will not cover cosmetic treatments, which improve the appearance of teeth, but are not clinically necessary.
